The Booragoon Bulldogs

Booragoon 13s in 2010

After a slow start to the season the Bulldog 13s are now approaching full stride in their quest for the flag.

Our team morphed from two sides of season 2009. Two sides with minimum numbers, both sides hamstrung by injuries struggled for acceptable win/loss ratios but remained keen & focussed throughout the season.

Soon after acceptances for the 2010 season, with only a slight reduction in overall numbers, the club was in the enviable situation of having 28 registered players & given a typical injury list & now growth related leg issues, this was indeed a favourable number for a single side.

With plenty of talent amonst the ranks, the boys have only just now showing some self belief after taking the top side, East Fremantle, to a draw in round nine. Only a lack of confidence causing inaccuracy in front of goals stopped us from picking up the extra two points.

The boys are beginning to realise that, with continued efforts, they may have a shot at the flag.

Booragoon 16s set for finals in 2010

The Booragoon 16 boys are enjoying a solid season of football and at round 11 have only dropped the one game.  This virtually ensures them a spot in the finals.

With a squad of 26 players the coach Greg Pearson faces a constant headache with ensuring game time and player rotation is fair to all involved.  Along with this it has been very pleasing to watch a number of players lift this year and provide solid support to the core group of quality players who have been together since Auskick.

Now the real challenges for the season begins fellas.  Keep up the hard work!!

Season 2010 Approaches

Hi to all our new members and welcome back to those players and parents looking forward to another year of junior football.

Booragoon JFC had another very successful Reigistration day and along with expanded numbers in almost all age groups we had over 100 players register for Auskick.  It promises to be another great year for all the youngsters enjoying their first year of football.

The season is due to kick off on the weekend of 1 and 2 May with the first Auskick session taking place on Sunday 2 May at Karoonda Oval.

Just a reminder to all parents and players we still have places for players in most age groups so if you know of any boys or girls who may be interested in playing give the coach of the team or Des Gibson (President) a call for further info.

Age Groups at Booragoon JFC

From the beginning of the 2009 season the age groups for AFL junior footballers has changed to reflect the age groups for school years.  This change has been implemented via the Western Australian Football Commission accross the entire State.  For implementation it was decided to allow the change to work its way through the age groups in preference to altering the age groups for all teams thus impacting on every team, some of which have been together for many years.

This has caused some challenges for player numbers in the younger age groups and has also resulted in some players moving to "different" teams from the previous year.  The BJFC encourages players to play with their correct age group but will support a member playing up in considered circumstances, following consultation with parents and coaches.
